An exemplary system comprising a memory that stores instructions and a processor communicatively coupled to the memory and configured to execute the instructions to perform a process. The process may comprise selecting a subclinical hearing loss operating mode (304) for a hearing device; and automatically applying, to the hearing device (202) and based on the subclinical hearing loss operating mode (304), a plurality of operating parameters (308-1, 308-2, ..., 308-N) optimized for users with subclinical hearing loss.
