Abstract

The present invention relates to a mycelium-based structure for biodiversity enhancement and habitat formation and restoration, comprising: mycelium of at least one fungus; and a substrate of discrete particles bonded together by the mycelium, wherein the substrate comprises plant biomass. The structure comprises: a rounded belly portion (1); and a hook portion (2). The hook portion (2) comprises: a proximal straight section (3) attached to the rounded belly portion (1); a curved section (4) attached to the proximal straight section (3); and a distal straight section (5) attached to the curved section (4). The proximal and distal straight sections (3, 5) are oriented in parallel to each other and the curved section (4) is an arc. The present invention further relates to an assembly of a mycelium-based lock (6) or support (7) and the mycelium-based structure, and to a method for production of the mycelium-based structure.
