Abstract

A cooked, solid, food product is provided, which comprises at least 10 wt% of protein and at least 20 wt% of water. The food product may contain further ingredients selected from soluble fibre, monosaccharide and/or or disaccharide, and sugar alcohol. The food product contains not more than 300 kcal per 100 g. The food product may be formed into food bars for individual consumption by consumers wanting a high protein intake, with low calories. The bars are optionally enrobed, for example by a cocoa-containing coating. Enrobing increases the calorie count but the bars are still high in protein and low in calories compared with available protein bars.
