Abstract

A method for reinforcing an additively manufactured structure includes adding one or more reinforcement fibers to a carrier substrate to form a textile substrate. The one or more reinforcement fibers distributed about the textile substrate. The textile substrate is draped over the additively manufactured structure. A resin is applied to the textile substrate on the surface of the additively manufactured structure to form a resin-based composite bonded to the surface. A system for reinforcing an additively manufactured structure includes a fabrication tool set with first and second fabrication tools. A fiber-reinforced additively manufactured structure includes an additively manufactured structure and a resin-based composite. The additively manufactured structure includes a surface. The resin-based composite is bonded to the surface. The resin-based composite includes a textile substrate and a resin.
