Abstract
A computer system comprising processing circuitry is provided. The processing circuitry is configured to obtain a required drive torque (T<sub>ref</sub>) for a vehicle (1), and obtain a heat requirement (H<sub>ref</sub>) for a component (12, 14, 20, 40) of the vehicle (1). The processing circuitry is further configured to cause, in response to the required drive torque (T<sub>ref</sub>) being less than the maximum torque capability of at least one electrical machine (10a-b): control of at least one first electrical machine (10a-b), connected to a drivetrain of the vehicle (1) and forming part of a vehicle drive system (11), to generate the required drive torque (T<sub>ref</sub>); and control of at least one second electrical machine (10a-b) forming part of the vehicle drive system (11), to generate excess heat. The processing circuitry is further configured to distribute the excess heat to the component (12, 14, 20, 40) of the vehicle (1) such that the heat requirement (H<sub>ref</sub>) is fulfilled.
