Abstract

An airfoil (154) for an aircraft engine (100) includes a blade body (194) and a leading edge protector (225) operably coupled to the blade body (194). The leading edge protector (225) includes a preformed sheet (220) defining a nose portion (222) and two flange portions (224). The nose portion (222) and the flange portions (224) are arranged in the chordwise direction. The preformed sheet (220) further defines a defined point (230) located on the nose portion (222). An X-axis and a Y-axis are defined relative to the defined point (230). A deposit (232) is operably coupled with the nose portion (222) of the preformed sheet (220) and extends from the nose portion (222) along the flange portions (224) on opposing sides of the defined point (230) in the X-axis direction.
