Abstract
A baggage unloader (1) comprises a frame (2) and a baggage container (5) including an upper side (6) and at least a discharge opening (8) at a front side (7) thereof. The baggage container (5) is provided with a cover (9), e.g. a flexible sheet (9), for closing at least a part of the discharge opening (8), the cover (9) being placeable on the upper side (6), or with a tiltable rigid lid (17) for covering an opening of the baggage container which rigid lid (17) projects outwardly from the baggage container (5) in an open position of the rigid lid (17). The baggage unloader (1) comprises a platform (3) for receiving the baggage container (5) thereon, which platform (3) is mounted to the frame (2) and rotatable with respect to the frame (2) between a horizontal position and an inclined position about an axis of rotation (4) which extends at a discharge side of the platform (3). The baggage container (5) is transferable to and from the platform (3) and lockable to the platform (3) in a position in which the discharge opening (8) is located at the discharge side so as to be able to rotate the platform (3) and the baggage container (5) together. The platform (3) is provided with a holder (10) for holding the rigid lid (17) in its open position or the cover (9) at the upper side (6) of the baggage container (5) when the platform (3) including the baggage container (5) are rotated together. During rotation of the platform (3) and the baggage container (5) the holder (10) and the baggage container (5) move within imaginary first and second circles (C1, C2) about the axis of rotation (4), respectively. The radius of the first circle (C1) is smaller than 1.2 or 1.1 times the radius of the second circle (C2).
