Abstract

A method of forming a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component (230) includes providing a ceramic structure (242) defining at least one wall (246) where the at least one wall (246) includes one or more bores (262) extending through the wall (246). At least one bore (262) of the one or more bores (262) has an inlet end (264) proximate a first side (248) of the wall (246) and an outlet end (266) proximate a second side (250) of the wall (246). One or more CMC plies (272) are disposed on at least a portion of the second side (250) to cover the outlet end (266). The one or more CMC plies (272) are densified and bonded to the ceramic structure (242). An environmental barrier coating (282) is applied on least a portion of the one or more CMC plies (272) covering the outlet end (266) of the at least one bore (262).
