Abstract
The invention relates to a novel reporter probe for the detection and/or amplification of a nucleic acid. The reporter probe comprises a head and a tail oligonucleotide being configured to anneal to adjacent target regions on a target nucleic acid and to each other. The tail oligonucleotide is dual-labeled with a quencher and a fluorophore in a portion of the tail oligonucleotide branching from the target nucleic acid when bound to the target nucleic acid. The reporter probe can, for example, be used in single- or multiplex PCR or isothermal amplification methods.
