Abstract

An annular containment structure (34) for a rotor stage (32) of a gas turbine engine (20) is provided that includes an outer radial panel (38), a plurality of contact members (40), and a deformable structure (42). The outer radial panel (38) has an inner radial surface (36A) and an outer radial surface (36B). The contact members (40) are distributed around a circumference of the containment structure (34). The deformable structure (42) is engaged with the inner radial surface (36A) of the outer radial panel (38) and the plurality of contact members (40). The deformable structure (42) is configured to dissipate energy by plastically deforming. Each contact member (40) includes an interior segment (40A) and an inner perimeter segment (40B) that are connected to one another. The inner perimeter segments (40B) form at least a portion of an inner radial surface (36A) of the containment structure (34).
