Abstract

A controller for an internal combustion engine, a control method for an internal combustion engine, and a program are provided. A pressure sensor (50) detects, as a pressure value (Ps), a differential pressure between an upstream section (15a) and a downstream section (15b) of an exhaust passage (15) with respect to a filter (18). When it is determined that the pressure sensor (50) is correctly detecting the pressure value (Ps) (S100: YES), the processing circuitry (110) calculates (S140) a reference ratio (R). The reference ratio (R) is a ratio between the pressure value (Ps) detected by the pressure sensor (50) and a reference pressure (Pref). The reference pressure (Rref) is calculated (S220) based on an operating parameter (Ga) in a trip subsequent to a trip in which the reference ratio (R) is stored. The pressure value (P) is calculated by multiplying (S230) the calculated reference pressure (Pref) by the stored reference ratio (R)(Fig. 3).
