Abstract

The present invention relates to a particle, especially micro- and nanoplastics, composite and inorganics, sampling and detection method and device for polymer comprising coating compositions, preferably paints, with exposure to UV light and humidity during their life cycle characterized by the following steps: a. the application and drying of a defined weight of a polymer containing coating formulation on a substrate to form a coating film b. Ageing of the coating film under (a) using UV light and humidity. c. Sampling dissolved organic compounds (DOC), inorganics, micro- and nanoplastics by c1) absolute mass loss of the coating film under (b) by gravimetrical methods. c2) dissolved organic compounds with immersion in water c3) inorganic, micro- and nanoplastics with mechanical treatment (e.g. water pressure or ultrasound optionally in the presence of surfactant), and d. determining the concentration of the released species under c. by quantifying at least one of the following species d1) dissolved organic carbon, d2) inorganics, including its fraction in composites, d3) micro-, nanoplastics, including its fraction in composites, d4) total number of particles with analytical detection methods.
