Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus, a vehicle, a data carrier, a computer program, and a method for executing a safety-critical application. The method comprises executing, in one or more first execution environments on the hardware platform, the safety-critical application. Further, the method comprises executing, in a second execution environment on the hardware platform, a supervisor component for the safety-critical application. Also, the method comprises providing a first memory-mapped interface used by the safety-critical application and providing a second memory-mapped interface used by a non-safety-critical application running in one of the first execution environments. As well, the method comprises detecting, by the supervisor component, a transition of a control flow between the safety-critical application and the non-safety-critical application running in the first execution environment and, in response to detecting that the control flow is transitioning from the safety-critical application to the non-safety-critical application, restricting, by the supervisor component, access to the first memory-mapped interface.
