Abstract

The present invention relates to load break switch, comprising: - a main contact (10); - a fixed contact (20) of a vacuum interrupter; - a moveable contact (30) of the vacuum interrupter; - a rod (40) of the vacuum interrupter; - a switch system (50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140); and - a knife (150); wherein the fixed contact of the vacuum interrupter is fixedly connected to the main contact; wherein the moveable contact of the vacuum interrupter is fixedly connected to a first end of the rod of the vacuum interrupter; wherein a second end of the rod of the vacuum interrupter is fixedly connected to a top end (50) of the switch system; wherein a first end of a rod (90) of the switch system is fixedly connected to at least one part (110) of a connector (110, 120) of the switch system; wherein the connector of the switch system is configured to move between the top end of the switch system and a bottom end (70) of the switch system; wherein a second end (100) of the rod of the switch system is configured to connect to the knife; wherein the switch system comprises a fixed end stop (80) that is configured not to move with respect to the fixed contact of vacuum interrupter; wherein a first end of the knife is configured to rotate about an axis, wherein a second end of the knife is configured to connect to the main contact; wherein in a first mode of operation: the knife is at a first rotational orientation and is directly in contact with the main contact; the second end of the rod of the switch system is connected to the knife; the connector of the switch system is at a first location between the top end of the switch system and the second end of the switch system; and the moveable contact of the vacuum interrupter is in contact with the fixed contact of the vacuum interrupter; wherein in a second mode of operation: the knife is at a second rotational orientation and is not directly in contact with the main contact, wherein the knife has been rotated in a first rotational direction from the first rotational orientation; the second end of the rod of the switch system is connected to the knife; the connector of the switch system is at a second location between the top end of the switch system and the second end of the switch system, wherein the connector has been moved away from the top end of the switch system and moved towards the second end of the switch system based on the rotation of the knife from the first rotational orientation to the second rotational orientation; the moveable contact of the vacuum interrupter is in contact with the fixed contact of the vacuum interrupter; and wherein in the second mode of operation the switch system is configured to provide an electrical connection between the main contact and the knife.
