A system (1300) and method for thermal propagation evaluation as disclosed. The method for thermal propagation evaluation includes machining a hole (510) in a long side of a battery can (59), attaching a heater (520) through a region in which the hole (510) is formed, and sealing the region in which the hole (510) is formed.
