Abstract

An uninterruptible power supply (100) includes a first input (102) for coupling to a primary power source (PPS); a power factor correction (PFC) converter (104) coupled to the first input (102); a second input (110) configured for coupling to a secondary power source (SPS) (126); a DC/DC converter (108) coupled to the second input (110); an output (116) for coupling to a load; and at least one controller (112) configured to control the DC/DC converter (108) to provide secondary power derived from the SPS (126) to the output (116), control, while an amount of power available from the PPS is sufficient to satisfy the load, the PFC converter (104) to provide primary power derived from the PPS to the output (116) in parallel with the DC/DC converter (108) providing the secondary power to the output (116), receive a charge and/or discharge parameter associated with the SPS (126), and determine a state of health of the SPS (126) based on the charge and/or discharge parameter.
