Abstract

A push to talk, PTT, headset adapter comprises: a headset connector for connection to a headset, the headset including a microphone; a PTT switch for selectively activating and deactivating the microphone via the headset connector; a wireless interface to a telephony base station; a main battery, or a main battery connector for connection to a main battery, for supplying power to the adapter; a backup battery for supplying power to the adapter; and a control circuit arranged to selectively control the supply of power to the adapter from the main battery or the backup battery; wherein the control circuit is arranged to control the supply of power from the backup battery in response to no or insufficient power being available from the main battery.
