Abstract

Disclosed is a method and printing device for transferring a pattern from a support surface onto a target surface. A low viscous substance with at least two phases, i.e. a carrier material and a functional material, is applied onto the support surface. The support surface comprises first and second zones that respectively attract and repel the substance, thereby patterning the applied substance. The substance comprises at least one low vapor pressure material and at least one high vapor pressure material. The viscosity of the patterned substance is initially increased by at least partially evaporating the low vapor pressure material, before a part of the high vapor pressure material is rapidly evaporated with a high heat flux at its contact surface with the support surface, to transfer the patterned substance.
