Abstract

A method may include determining, via a load sharing management operation (212) of a controller, a target steady state load share for an associated one of a thermal engine (108) or an electric motor system (110) of a hybrid electric powertrain (HEP). The method may also include operating, by the controller, the associated one of the thermal engine (108) or the electric motor system (110) according to the target steady state load share. The method may also include determining, by the controller, that a measured load for the associated one of the thermal engine (108) or the electric motor system (110) does not meet the target steady state load share. The method may also include adjusting, by the controller, a control setting of the associated one of the thermal engine (108) or the electric motor system (110), resulting in an adjusted load output of the associated one of the thermal engine (108) or the electric motor system (110).
