Abstract

Aspects of the present invention relate to a brake (100) for providing deceleration, comprising: a brake surface (110) and a brake lining (120), wherein in a decelerating state (I), the brake lining (120) and the brake surface (110) are in contact, and in a free-running state (II), the brake lining (120) and the brake surface (110) are spaced apart, an electric motor (140) that is connected to an actuator push rod (130) and configured to provide the energy to move the actuator push rod (130) from the free-running state (II) to the decelerating state (I), wherein the electric motor (140) is further configured to operate as a generator and provide energy to an energy storage (150) when the actuator push rod (130) is moved from the decelerating state (I) to the free-running state (II).
