Abstract
A boom lift machine (10) is provided which includes: a body (12); a boom (14) defining a longitudinal axis (A-A);a mounting arrangement (50) mounting the boom to the body; and a lifting unit (54) extending between the boom and the mounting arrangement. The boom is pivotably connected to the mounting arrangement at or proximate a first end (16) of the boom. The mounting arrangement is configured such that in response to actuation of the lifting unit, the boom is pivoted to raise or lower a second end (20) thereof, and the boom is translated relative to the body. The boom lift machine also includes a counterweight mass configured to counterbalance a tipping moment of the boom lift machine. The counterweight mass is configured to translate with the boom.
