Abstract
The invention relates to a process for producing butyraldehyde, comprising: (a) feeding propene (1) and a hydrogen and carbon monoxide containing synthesis gas (3) into a reactor (5); (b) reacting propene, hydrogen and carbon monoxide to obtain an isobutyraldehyde and n-butyraldehyde comprising crude product stream (7); (c) withdrawing the crude product stream (7) from the reactor (5); (d) cooling the crude product stream (7); wherein the crude product stream (7) is cooled in a heat exchanger (201) of a heat pump (200) for producing steam and/or in a heat exchanger (101) of a district heating grid (100).
