Abstract
An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a water-absorbing agent composition that maintains the surface tension of a liquid to be absorbed even when a water-absorbent resin having a high specific surface area is surface-crosslinked, has high water absorption properties under pressure (for example, absorption capacity under pressure (AAP) and gap water ratio under pressure), and does not inhibit improvement in absorption speed. The production method according to the present invention is a method for producing a water-absorbing agent composition containing a water-absorbent resin as a main component, the method including a surface crosslinking step for the water-absorbent resin, wherein (1) the water-absorbent resin before surface crosslinking has a specific surface area of 25 m<sup>2</sup>/kg or more; (2) specific peroxide and organic surface crosslinking agent are used; (3) a water vapor density in a heat treatment step is appropriately controlled.
