Abstract

The present invention provides a polymer additive and a preparation method therefor, and a polymer composition containing the same. The preparation method includes: allowing an aqueous solution of a hypophosphite and an antioxidant to carry out a free radical reaction with ethylene in the presence of an initiator to obtain an aqueous solution of a diethylphosphinate; mixing the aqueous solution of the diethylphosphinate, an aqueous solution of a metal salt, and an alkali solution to carry out a reaction under a condition of a pH value of 3.5-3.8 to obtain a diethylphosphinate metal salt slurry; and mixing and stirring the diethylphosphinate metal salt slurry and a flocculant to obtain a diethylphosphinate metal salt flocculate, and performing filtering, washing, and drying to obtain the polymer additive. According to the present invention, through the design of the preparation method, the polymer additive with a low acid value and high thermal stability can be obtained. When used as a flame retardant to prepare the polymer composition, the polymer additive can reduce mold scale during injection molding and enable the polymer composition to have less water boiling precipitate, thereby improving the stability of the polymer composition under damp-heat conditions.
