Abstract

The present invention provides a polymer additive, and a preparation method and an application thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: subjecting an aqueous hypophosphorous acid solution and an antioxidant to a free radical reaction with ethylene under the action of an initiator to obtain an aqueous diethylphosphinic acid solution; subjecting the aqueous diethylphosphinic acid solution, sulfuric acid, and a metal hydroxide to a reaction, followed by adding an alkaline solution to obtain a diethylphosphinate slurry with a pH value of 3.8-4.2; and mixing the diethylphosphinate slurry with a flocculant and stirring to obtain a diethylphosphinate flocculate, followed by filtering, washing, and drying to obtain the polymer additive. According to the present invention, through the design of the preparation method, a polymer additive with a low acid value can be obtained. When used as a flame retardant in preparation of a polymer material, the polymer additive can inhibit auxiliary precipitation during high-temperature processing, reduce mold deposits, and enable a prepared polymer composition to have a lower content of water-boiling precipitates, thereby improving its service life under hot and humid conditions.
