Abstract

An airfoil for a gas turbine engine (10) includes a leading edge (220), a trailing edge (225), a pressure sidewall (210) extending between the leading edge (220) and the trailing edge (225), a suction sidewall (215) opposite the pressure sidewall (210) and extending between the leading edge (220) and the trailing edge (225), and a flared portion (303, 403, 503, 603, 703, 803, 903) extending from the suction sidewall (215). The flared portion (303, 403, 503, 603, 703, 803, 903) extends from a flare lead point (310) towards the trailing edge (225). The flare lead point (310) is downstream of a throat point (313) on the suction sidewall (215). The throat point (313) is at a minimum distance between the suction sidewall (215) of the airfoil and another pressure sidewall (210) of an adjacent airfoil.
