Abstract
A method for controlling clearance (68) between a blade outer air seal (BOAS) (66) and a rotating portion (64) of a gas turbine engine (20) comprising detecting an operating mode of the gas turbine engine (20), monitoring a current clearance between the BOAS (66) and the rotating portion (64) of the gas turbine engine (20) and adjusting a position of the BOAS (66) to alter the clearance from the current clearance to a baseline clearance associated with the detected operating mode.
