Abstract

A high-pressure injection pump (10) for an injection system, comprising a body (12) defining a pumping cylinder (14), a regulating chamber (16) and a delivery chamber (18). A pumping piston (28) is reciprocally movable in the pumping cylinder (14) to pressurize the regulating chamber (16). The pump further comprises a differential pressure regulator (30) provided with a separator piston (32) that sealingly slides in a separator cylinder (34) that separates the regulating chamber (16) from the delivery chamber (18). The separator piston pressurizes the delivery chamber (18) so as to maintain a positive pressure difference between the two chambers. In an end-of-stroke position of the separator piston (32), annular sealing surfaces (36, 38) of the separator piston (32) and the separator cylinder (34) cooperate to establish a sealing contact that isolates the delivery chamber (18) from the regulating chamber (16).
