Abstract

An image forming apparatus (100) includes an apparatus body (103), and a control unit (102) configured to acquire reuse information, toner information, and life information stored in the memory (M2) of the cartridge (10). The control unit (102) is configured to (i) in a case where the reuse information is acquired from the memory (M2), acquire second toner information related to an amount of toner of the cartridge (10) that has been reused, (ii) in a case where the first toner information is different from the second toner information, set second life information different from the first life information, and store the second life information in the memory (M2), the second life information being set according to the second toner information, and (iii) control a timing at which replacement of the cartridge (10) is prompted based on the second life information stored in the memory (M2).
