Abstract

A system and method for orchestrating a point-of-sale (PoS) payment transaction across a plurality of payment gateway providers is provided. The method comprising: receiving, at the PoS device, a selection, by a user, of a payment method from a plurality of payment methods for a payment transaction; determining a first payment gateway provider from a ranked list of payment gateway providers eligible to process the selected payment method; transmitting a first transaction request to the first payment gateway provider causing the first payment gateway provider to transmit a response to the PoS device; in response to the response meeting a predetermined condition, selecting a second payment gateway provider from the ranked list of gateway providers; and re-initiating the payment transaction by transmitting a second transaction request to the second payment gateway provider.
