Abstract

A storage device (10) for storing a target substance (1) to be irradiated with a particle beam includes a target container (3) and a closure member (5a). The target container (3) defines an internal space (3a) including an upward opening (3a1). The target container (3) forms a lower bottom surface (3a2) of the internal space (3a). The closure member (5a) is attached to the target container (3) so as to close the opening (3a1) and seal the internal space (3a). The closure member (5a) transmits the particle beam. The bottom surface includes a downwardly recessed depression (D). The target substance (1) is placed in the depression (D).
