Abstract

There is provided a method of manufacturing a power cable, the power cable comprising at least a cable core and a lead-free metallic water barrier (202) surrounding the cable core. The method comprises heating at least a first portion of the lead-free metallic water barrier (202); surrounding the first portion of the lead-free metallic water barrier (202) with a heat-activatable adhesive layer (212); and surrounding at least a portion of the adhesive layer (212) with a reinforcement layer (216). The adhesive layer (212) adheres to the water barrier (202) and to the reinforcement layer (216).
