Abstract
A control device (10) for real-time control of a power plant battery energy storage system (BESS) (40) is provided. The control device (10) is operative to obtain target data specifying a time-dependent target characteristics for operation of the power plant BESS (40). The control device (10) is operative to determine an active power limit profile for the power plant BESS (40). The control device (10) is operative to perform an iterative process comprising a plurality of iterations to determine an active power limit for each of several time slots of a prognostic time horizon based on both the target data and active power observations, the active power observations relating to a past time slot preceding the predictive time horizon. The control device (10) is operative to cause or enable a control action based on the active power limit profile.
