Abstract

Logging event messages from a large number of devices that are of different types, have different manufacturers, and different reporting methodologies, is often challenging. Systems and methods are provided to parse event messages into a plurality of storage locations, such as specific files and/or files within a particular directory structure based on the type of event message. The type of message may be determined, in whole or in part, by the device's manufacturer, reporting format, and/or other descriptor. As a result, event messages may be segregated and corrupted messages may be identified by the file and/or directory. Additionally, when a particular file reaches a threshold, the file is "rotated," comprising closing the file and writing to a new file with an incremented file name while other files remain unaffected.
