Abstract

In an example method, a scene description file representing an avatar is obtained, the scene description file including a texture sets component. The texture sets component includes at least one texture set. Each of the texture sets identifies at least one texture. At least a first one of the texture sets identifies a first texture and a second texture. A stream of texture weights is obtained including first weights associated with the first texture and second weights associated with the second texture. A parametric texture is determined for the avatar using a combination of the textures in the first texture set, including the first texture weighted by the first weights and the second texture weighted by the second weights. The avatar is animated using the parametric texture.
