Abstract
A system may include a planetary gear system having a sun gear, a ring gear, and a plurality of planet gears mounted on a rotatable carrier. Also, the system may include a first motor and a second motor aligned coaxially along a shared central axis. Furthermore, the system may include a shared input gear coupled to the planetary gear system, where the planetary gear system is configured to combine torque contributions from the first motor and the second motor and transmit the combined torque to an output shaft. In addition, the system may include a synchronization mechanism configured to maintain alignment of rotational speeds between the first motor and the second motor.
