Abstract

A method for preparing a positive electrode active material includes preparing core particles including a lithium nickel-based composite oxide and mixing the core particles and water to wash the core particles. The method further includes removing a portion of the water so that the water is included in an amount of about 1 wt% to about 10 wt% based on a total 100 wt% of the core particles and water to obtain a washed product. The method also includes adding and mixing an aluminum raw material and a metal raw material into an aqueous solvent to prepare a coating solution. The method further includes adding the washed product into a mixer and performing heat treatment at about 300 °C to about 400 °C while or after spraying the coating solution. The metal raw material is a boron raw material or a tungsten raw material.
