Abstract

The invention relates to a device for the longitudinal splitting of the stalks of bast fiber plants with simultaneous mechanical densification of the structure of the shives and reinforcing the adhesion between the shives and the fibers, especially of annual plants, wherein said device comprises a first set of rollers (1) arranged in parallel manner with a helically grooved roller (2), a supporting frame and drive means. The device splits the plant stalk completely in a manner that prevents its breaking, fragmentation, and loosening of the fibers present in the stalk, and also reduces significantly the crumbling and falling out of the shives from the split stalks. Preferably, the device changes the structure of the split stalk, especially the shives structure, causing the natural intercellular pores present in the stalk to close. The invention also relates to a technological line containing such device, a method of splitting the stalks of bast fiber plants with the device in order to obtain from those stalks ribbons containing naturally bound fibers and shives, the use of the device for the production of wood-like materials and wood-like material from stalks of bast fiber plants produced with the device.
