Abstract

An air conditioning system (700) includes a vapor compression loop (704) having a compressor (710), a first expansion device (714a), a second expansion device (714b), a first heat exchanger (712), a second heat exchanger (716), and a working fluid is configured to circulate within the vapor compression loop (704). An electric energy storage device (702) is selectively operable to supply power to a component of the air conditioning system (700) and a thermal management system (730) is thermally and fluidly coupled to the vapor compression loop (704) at a position between the first expansion device (714a) and the second expansion device (714b). Expansion of the working fluid within at least one of the first expansion device (714a) and the second expansion device (714b) is controllable in response to a thermal demand of the electric energy storage device (702).
