Abstract

A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The electrode assembly is accommodated in a case body having opening. A cover is coupled to the case body to close the opening. The case body includes an accommodating part in which the electrode assembly is accommodated and a flange part that extending outward from the accommodating part. At least part of the cover is coupled to the flange part. The flange part comprises at least one coupling part arranged along a periphery of the flange and coupled to a coupling member. At least one avoidance part is formed in the cover such that the at least one coupling part is not covered by the cover.
