Abstract

A battery module includes battery cells and a bus bar for connecting some of the battery cells in parallel to form parallel modules, and connecting in series the parallel modules differing from each other. The bus bar includes a first sub-bus bar for electrically connecting a first battery cell of the battery cells and a second battery cell of the battery cells, and a second sub-bus bar for electrically connecting a third battery cell of the battery cells and a fourth battery cell of the battery cells. A bus bar overlapping portion is formed where the first sub-bus bar overlaps and connects to the second sub-bus bar. The thickness of the bus bar overlapping portion is thicker than the thickness of the first sub-bus bar, and the thickness of the bus bar overlapping portion is thicker than the thickness of the second sub-bus bar.
