Abstract

A method and apparatus for updating metadata of NNPF are provided. A neural-network post-filter activation (NNPFA) message associated to at least one picture of a video is received wherein the NNPFA message indicates that at least one neural-network post-filter (NNPF) is to be applied to the at least one picture. From the NNPFA, an indication is obtained that indicates whether at least one purpose of the at least one NNPF is updated. An update value of at least one parameter of the at least one NNPF is obtained and a value of the at least one parameter of the at least one NNPF is updated with the update value. The at least one NNPF is applied for the updated purpose using the at least one parameter set to the update value.
