Abstract

Provided is a mold copper plate capable of inhibiting non-uniform solidification of a solidifying shell, thereby inhibiting longitudinal cracking in a surface of a slab and extending the life of a continuous casting mold.A mold copper plate for use in a continuous casting mold includes a substrate layer containing copper or a copper alloy; a layer including recessed grooves or round grooves, the layer being provided on the substrate layer; and a coating layer provided on the layer including recessed grooves or round grooves. The coating layer includes at least one of nickel, cobalt, a nickel-based alloy, a cobalt-based alloy, a stainless steel alloy, a metal nitride, a metal carbide, and a metal oxide. The layer including recessed grooves or round grooves is formed of a different material having a ratio of a thermal conductivity of the different material to a thermal conductivity of the substrate layer of 80% or less or 120% or greater.
