Abstract

A liquid discharge apparatus includes: a head (100) having nozzle surface (100a) having nozzles on the nozzle surface (100a), to discharge liquid from the nozzles in a discharge direction; a suction cap (201) having a lip contactable with the nozzle surface to cap the nozzle surface with the suction cap (201), the suction cap including an absorber (410) in the suction cap (201), a cap cleaner (231), having liquid absorbability, to contact with the lip and clean the lip of the suction cap (201); a support supporting the cap cleaner (231) to be movable in a capping direction opposite to the discharge direction; and a biasing member (340) configured to bias the cap cleaner (231) toward the suction cap (201) in the discharge direction.
