Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a charging system and a charging method for charging an energy storage module from an external power source, an electric drive system and a vehicle. The charging system includes: a charging interface, including a voltage input terminal, a charging control switch and a first capacitor, wherein the external power source connects to the charging interface by means of the voltage input terminal, and the charging control switch is connected between the voltage input terminal and the first capacitor to control charging of the first capacitor by the external power source; a voltage measuring module, used for measuring a voltage of the external power source and a voltage of the first capacitor; and a bidirectional charging module and a charging control module, used for causing the charging system, on the basis of a voltage difference between the voltage of the external power source and the voltage of the first capacitor, to precharge the first capacitor from the energy storage module in a precharging mode, and to charge the energy storage module from the external power source via the first capacitor in a charging mode. The charging system of the present disclosure is capable of achieving a soft start safely and at a low cost.
