Abstract
A hydrogenated block copolymer is disclosed represented by a structure (EB-EB')<n>X, X is a residue of a coupling agent, and n is an integer from 2 to 20. Each block EB and block EB' independently consists essentially of ethylene ("E") units and butylene ("B") units. The block EB has a butylene ("B") unit content of 10 to 30 wt.%, and the block EB' has a butylene ("B") unit content of at least 70 wt.%. The hydrogenated block copolymer has a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 150 - 400 kg/mol, a melting temperature (Tm) of < 110°C, and a dissolution temperature (Ts) of < 70°C. The hydrogenated block copolymer can be used as a compatibilizer for polyolefin blends, exhibiting improved mechanical properties and processability.
