Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating an electrolysis plant (200) for producing hydrogen from water, wherein the electrolysis plant comprises electrolysis cells, the method comprising: Providing current operating parameter values (260) of plant operating parameters; Providing performance information (280), wherein the performance information comprises information about a performance of at least one component of the electrolysis plant; Determining, based on the performance information (280), a remaining service life (282) of the at least one component of the electrolysis plant; Determining operating setpoints (262) for the stack assemblies, based on: the current operating parameter values (260), the remaining service life of the at least one component of the electrolysis plant, and operating limits (284) of the stack assemblies or parts thereof, which exceed given respective operating limits; and Providing the operating setpoints (262) for operating the electrolysis plant.
