Abstract

The present invention relates to a method (100) for operating an electrolysis system (1) and an electrolysis system (1). The electrolysis system (1) has multiple electrolysis modules (8) connected to a power grid (4) via a central transformer unit (2) and multiple rectifier units (6). A source voltage provided at the central transformer unit (2) and a control variable in a control system (12) of the rectifier units (6) are monitored (S1, S2), wherein said control variable is associated with the firing angles of said rectifier units (6). When the monitored source voltage fulfils a source voltage intervention criterion and/or the monitored control variable fulfils a control variable intervention criterion, the rectifier units (6) are operated (S4) with a constant firing angle.
