Abstract

Impeller assemblies (300) for gas turbine engines include a rotating component (302) with a plurality of impeller blades (304) extending from a hub (306) and defining an axis (334). A split shroud (308) is arranged about the rotating component (302) and defines a flow path between an external surface of the hub (306) and an internal surface of the split shroud (308). The impeller blades (304) are configured to be rotationally driven relative to the split shroud (308). The split shroud (308) includes a first shroud element and a second shroud element configured to fixedly attach to the first shroud element. Each of the first shroud element and the second shroud element have a radially inward tapering portion (330) that extends from a shroud leading edge (324) of the respective shroud element to an inflection point (326) and a radially outward tapering portion (332) that extends from the inflection point (326) to a shroud aft edge (328).
