Abstract
Techniques pertaining to joint subframe and bit synchronization of data signals in satellite and mobile communications are described. An apparatus, e.g. a user equipment, receives a signal, e.g. a GNSS signal, (910) and detects the transmitted data symbols in the signal (920). The apparatus then computes a subframe hypothesis test correlation including the sync word correlation and the bit correlations (930). The apparatus also synchronizes the data subframe and bit timing (940).
